Axion House is a mixed use development adjacent to the Ravensbourne River and two major rail lines in the London Borough of Lewisham. The building form is inspired by the local context of terraces; folding the typology in response to the complex nature of this backland site.

The innovative concertina form creates a series of linked spaces which are residential in nature on the riverside and employment focused on the rail side. Significant planting creates green and sheltered spaces that maximise benefit to wildlife. The ground floor is activated by duplex apartments and double-height commercial space. An original approach to the public realm mitigates flood risk and includes raised boardwalks which cascade down to the riverside.

The massing of the building creates dynamic forms on the intersection of the railway and the entrance to Lewisham Town Centre from the south, whilst the variegated heights and stepped roofscape create a unique and sympathetic silhouette for the surrounding buildings.
