PRP’s Development Consultancy team has been appointed as Lead Consultant and Architect on Haringey Council’s Pilot Refurbishment Project of the Martlesham and Rochford buildings on Broadwater Farm Estate.

The community-led pilot project aims to regenerate the neighbourhood through the creation of high-quality affordable homes, landscaping and communal facilities. Built-in the late 1960’s using Large Panel System construction, the Martlesham and Rochford buildings will benefit from strengthening and refurbishment works, guided by recent shifts in building legislation and an established Urban Design Framework.

As part of the appointment, PRP will provide RIBA Stages 3 and 4 services, as well as design support and monitoring during RIBA Stages 5 to 7. PRP will work in tandem with Haringey Council’s sustainability team to ensure that the design meets the Council’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2041.

Throughout the project, PRP will work with the Council to maximise opportunities for local people including new jobs, skills and training opportunities – ensuring the existing community and future generations can actively participate in, and benefit from, the investment in their neighbourhood.

Martyn Francis, Associate Director at PRP said: “We are excited to be given this fantastic opportunity to demonstrate our depth of in-house services in order to provide a holistic approach to design and regeneration”

This latest appointment builds on PRP’s long-standing relationship with Haringey Council’s housing services working on the Central Hill wider masterplan and delivering the extra care housing scheme, Lorenco House. Earlier this year, PRP also offered summer work placement opportunities to a number of local residents.
