PRP’s design for Cardiff’s very first wellbeing village has received planning approval. The Michaelston College project is the latest Cardiff Living development to be delivered as a collaboration between Cardiff Council, Cardiff & Vale Health Board and Wates Residential. The ambitious scheme will integrate this new vibrant neighbourhood with existing broader communities.

The new village will have a focus on health and wellbeing with 107 community living apartments for older people, a mixture of homes for other age-groups, a community hub homing a café and village hall, adult supported living, children’s respite and a GP surgery. Whilst outdoor spaces will host a multi-use games area in addition to a multitude of public realm, landscape and play spaces.

Clare Cameron, Director at PRP, shared: “Locating older people at the heart of this new masterplan in the same building as the community hub is a fantastic opportunity to create a vibrant and truly intergenerational new community.

The 27-acre development is landscape-led with all community spaces and older people’s housing centralised around a new plaza at the heart of the masterplan. PRP has worked collaboratively with Powell Dobson Architect who have designed the general needs housing.
